Day 3: Journey to Dochula Pass and Paro
After breakfast, set off for Paro, but first visiting Docula Pass at the breathtaking Dochula Pass (3,100m), where 108 sacred stupas stand against a backdrop of the majestic Himalayan peaks. Take in the fresh mountain air and capture some unforgettable photographs.
Upon arrival in Paro, visit Drukgyel Dzong, an ancient fortress that once defended Bhutan from Tibetan invasions. Though destroyed by fire in the 1950s, it has been beautifully restored and remains a symbol of Bhutanese resilience.
Next, visit the National Museum of Bhutan, housed in a historic watchtower, where you’ll discover fascinating exhibits on Bhutan’s culture, history, and spirituality. In the evening, take a leisurely walk through Paro’s picturesque streets, lined with traditional wooden houses, cozy cafés, and boutique shops.
