Day 2: Exploring Thimphu – Tradition & Culture
Start your day with a visit to the Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s rare national animal, the takin. Next, visit Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest seated Buddha statues in the world, offering breathtaking views of Thimphu Valley.
Explore Bhutan’s rich heritage at the Simply Bhutan Museum, an interactive space showcasing traditional architecture, daily life, and history. In the afternoon, witness the intricate craftsmanship at the Institute of Zorig Chusum (School of Arts & Crafts) and admire the Tashichho Dzong, Bhutan’s administrative and monastic center.
Stroll through Kaja Throm, a lively local market where vendors sell fresh produce, dry goods, and street food. End the day at the Craft Bazaar, where local artisans showcase Bhutanese textiles, paintings, and handicrafts, followed by an evening walk through Thimphu’s charming streets.
