After clearing immigration, embark on a 1.5-hour scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s vibrant capital city. Enjoy the picturesque landscapes, winding rivers, and traditional Bhutanese villages along the way. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend a relaxed evening adjusting to Bhutan’s serene atmosphere.
Start your day with a visit to the Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s rare national animal, the takin. Next, visit Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest seated Buddha statues in the world, offering breathtaking views of Thimphu Valley.
Explore Bhutan’s rich heritage at the Simply Bhutan Museum, an interactive space showcasing traditional architecture, daily life, and history. In the afternoon, witness the intricate craftsmanship at the Institute of Zorig Chusum (School of Arts & Crafts) and admire the Tashichho Dzong, Bhutan’s administrative and monastic center.
Stroll through Kaja Throm, a lively local market where vendors sell fresh produce, dry goods, and street food. End the day at the Craft Bazaar, where local artisans showcase Bhutanese textiles, paintings, and handicrafts, followed by an evening walk through Thimphu’s charming streets.
After breakfast, embark on a 4-hour drive (130 km) to Phobjikha Valley, a pristine glacial valley known for its untouched beauty. En route, stop at Dochula Pass (3,100m), home to 108 memorial chortens and panoramic views of the Eastern Himalayas.
As you descend into Wangduephodrang, marvel at the stunning Wangdue Dzong perched on a ridge overlooking the valley. Upon arrival in Phobjikha, visit the Black-Necked Crane Information Centre, where you can learn about these endangered birds that migrate here from Tibet (best viewed between November and February).
Continue to Gangtey Monastery, a revered Buddhist monastery with panoramic views of the valley. Next, take a gentle nature hike through Phobjikha Valley, passing through lush meadows, forests, and charming villages, allowing you to soak in the tranquility of this scenic region.

Begin your day with the hike to Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery), Bhutan’s most iconic landmark, perched 900 meters above the valley floor. The 4-5 hour round-trip trek offers breathtaking views and an opportunity to experience Bhutan’s spiritual essence.
After descending, visit Drukgyel Dzong, a historic fortress that once defended Bhutan from Tibetan invasions and has been recently restored. Continue to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, dating back to the 7th century.
